21 rules of negotiation

The Critical Rules

Rule 1: No free gifts! Seek a trade-off (“OK, if . . .”) for each concession you make.

Rule 2: Start high.

Rule 3: Follow a dramatic initial concession with sharply diminishing concessions.

Rule 4: Krunch early and often.

Rule 5: Never settle issues individually. Settle all issues as a package—only as a package—at the end.

Rule 6: Conclude with a nibble.

Rule 7: Keep looking for creative (high value–low cost) concessions to trade.

7. The Important but Obvious Rules

Rule 8: Do your homework.

Rule 9: Keep the climate positive.

Rule 10: Never assume that an issue is non-negotiable just because the other side says it is. In reality, almost everything is negotiable.

Rule 11: Never accept the other side’s first offer.

8. The Nice to Do Rules

Rule 12: Start slowly.

Rule 13: Set a complete agenda.

Rule 14: Discuss the small things first.

Rule 15: Be patient.

Rule 16: Use/beware the power of legitimacy.

Rule 17: Keep your authority limited. Try to negotiate against people with higher authority.

Rule 18: Consider using good guy–bad guy.

Rule 19: Try to have the other side make the first offer.

Rule 20: Keep your team small and under control.

Rule 21: Try to have the other side travel to you.

why sad

Am just being lonely for now. i feel sad. I feel am thinking of nice memories in the past but then it makes my eyes watery. Haiiii life! Am humming the song - Some Days are diamonds, some days are stones… At times i feel like am tired smiling that pretentious smile, but I know i need to.

To become sad , its is not my habit. peoples should not think that i like to become sad.

When You asked how I've been here without you
I'd like to say I've been fine and I do.
But we both know the truth is hard to come by
And if I told the truth that's not quite true

Some days are diamonds some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds some days are stones.

Now the face that I see in my mirror
More and more is a stranger to me
More and more I can see there's a danger
In becoming what I never thought I'd be

Some days are diamonds some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds some days are stones.

Some days are diamonds some days are stones
Sometimes the hard times won't leave me alone
Sometimes a cold wind blows a chill in my bones
Some days are diamonds some days are stones.

Why we cry?

Well, let’s use science to explain why do people actually cry when they feel sad or happy. Basically, people and animals has the tear ducts located under upper eyelids. These tear ducts are the reason why people can cry and can’t hold the tears that comes out. Tear ducts generated salty-liquid or tears immediately when we are in high level of emotion either sadness, physical pain or distress. The tears resulted from emotional responses are what we called “emotional tears”.

There are three types of tears being produced. Basal tears that keep the moist in eye from dryness. Second type is reflex tears which flows out when the eye becomes irritated as result of dust or bactery. And lastly is the emotional tears will be discussed more here.

Researchers have found out that more manganese and prolactin produced in emotional tears as to compare with other types of tears. Manganese is the element that affect temperament, whereas prolactin a protein that regulates milk production. It is claimed that sobbing out emotional tears may help in relieving pain. The process is when outside sources(lost, love, etc) or inside sources(self-realization one’s life) triggers emotion and affect us, the neuro system stimulates brain to send signal to the tear ducts/glands which will be translated to production of tears. And when those tears flush out through the eyes, excesses amount of hormones and chemicals are released as to balance the body’s stress levels. Thus, while crying we tend to cry more and feel better aftermath.

Crying in the public when everyone stares at you or in your room with no one notice is a choice. Because emotional tear is most likely produced as a means of communication to relate with others, crying without any person notice may not always healthy. Just like an infant, it express pain, fears, hunger without words but cry. In the progress, adults also crying as a kind of bonding with other humans. People express crying as a mean to comfort and receive support from others. Like culturally accepted reason to cry together is in funeral. Besides they cry to relieve tension, they are communicating and comforting each other at the same time.

Human sheds tears for various reasons, whether because of physically or psychologically necessities like moisturing eyes, relaxing irritation, and relieving pain or stress. Moreover, tears also a way of conveying communication. All the reasons that human cry absolutely can make you to buy boxes of tissue. However, the fact is crying is acceptable and it helps you to arrive at calm state. So, eventually crying, weeping or sobbing is not bad at all.
“ The first accepted reason to cry is probably death. Grieving includes crying and often times it was believed that if someone did not cry, they would suffer physically because they did not release their pain. Experiences in life and love are other reasons society allows us to cry. Women have been allowed to cry more than men traditionally, but the benefits of crying seem to suggest that men need to cry more. Cultures around the world have crying out of obligation, for show, and for grief and pain. Each culture defines where and when it is acceptable to cry. Cultures, in some parts of the world, sometimes determine the length of crying and mourning. For example, in the Zuni culture, a chief allows the mourners of the dead to cry for four days after which the chief says that the death occurred four years ago, and now the mourning may end. ” - Why We Laugh and Cry

Just A Life

We see some people are born with so many many things that we don’t have. Some people have only few things they can be proud of. In other hand, there are also people that we find it so hard to look of something worthy from him/her. But, even so, those people can still produce or make something they can be proud of. It may or may not be approved by the society. We have still be proud of it (that’s hard, I know, but that’s what we do to live this one life).

We may not have the same thing that people have. Remember that we are unique. What they possess may not necessary be the same as what you possess. Everyone has something special in themselves. We try to be better day by day until the day we have done our best. When is it? You decide it. Everything we can see, touch and feel will not last forever. Every possession I mentioned may be good to have in this life. But those are merely for temporary, they will perish someday. When will they perish? You decide it. These are all temporal matters.

So, what do we possess in this life that are everlasting, eternal, never vanish as long as we alive?

For me, it is nothing but CHOICES. There is no such thing as “no choice“, “I have no choice “, “I must do this, that’s the only choice“, etc.

Choices is yours.

“I have no money, so I have no choice but to steal…”, ”No choice, I have to leave her because I am too busy…”, “I have bad grades because my teacher hate me, that’s not my choice… ” If you really look at this sentence and let your brain process other choices.. You can search for tons of choices…

It is just about our choices to feel sad or happy about ourselves. It is your choices of how you want your life is. You don’t like this kind of life, choose another kind. It is your choices of being camaraderie or betrayer. You don’t have any true friend, you choose to have one. It is your choices to have the confidence. You afraid, choose to train yourself to have brave. Choices

When your first choice failed, there will be another choices. Remember, YOU ALWAYS HAVE CHOICES.

That’s one way of being optimistic ) I want to be what I want to be. That’s a choice.
