Blood Makes you Relatives not Family

Blood makes you relatives but loyalty makes you Family

Loyalty isn't grey. It's black and white. You're either loyal completely, or not loyal at all.
Never take the side of anyone against the Family. this shows you are not loyal to the Family. means you are just one of the blood relative. and when someone from your blood related and loyal person will know his/her heart would be broken.

JollyChic.com - Reviews on Purchases from Dubai UAE

When I visited this site very first time. I was amazed to see so much varieties of the dress and colors. So I cannot stop myself to buy some.
I bought dress online from jollychic.com only because of the different varieties of colors they have. I like knee length flowy dresses. So I spend a lot of time first to choose the best color and dress. I purchased around eight (8) dresses from this site with different cute colors. Most of the dresses I choose were from Friday sale so the price I paid was actually less than the original price.
After the purchase, First thing I thought was. Oh! This was my first order. I should have take advantage of their promotion that on First order 30% Off. This 30% off is based on each item not a total.
Anyways I purchased, paid so I did not return. Although as per their policy you can return within 24 hours before it has prepared. I did not knew this thing so I did not return.
Then, I keep on waiting to see the dress.

The delivery time was OK. It was delivered 2 days late as per actual delivery time.
Now, I opened the parcel. Take out dresses one by one. I was SURPRISED to see that the quality of the dress was not so good as compared to the price.

Here are a few reviews I noticed.

Quality

For example, There was one dress the price was 99.9 AED. but the quality of the dress was so bad that similar kind of dress you can easily find in UAE in less than 50 AED. The dress actually looks like hardly of 40 AED only. and I paid 99.9 on this website. For this particular dress I was so amazed because this was the dress I choose out of sale price and I paid full amount. With this price you can find better dress in Splash, MAX, ZARA OR ANY OTHER store in UAE.

Fit

The other thing, I noticed in almost all the dresses was: The size. The Size, I ordered was Good for me. I used to buy same size here. but from this site. except one all dress are smaller and too much fit.

Price

EXTREMELY TOO MUCH. The price as compared to quality is not worth. Here in UAE you can easily find a dress much better than on this site. If you are ordering dress from UAE I SUGGEST do not order because the price on this site are extremely high as compared to the quality.

Length

I suggest order one Extra bigger. If you think 30 INCHES length is ok for you, go for the next close and available length. Like if 32 is available or 33. if not available then choose another dress. either it would be too long or too short.

I can say is that the size of the dresses mention in the site is very different than the actual is. For example 34 length they menion and i measure it is less than 30.

My Overall Experience of Buying Online

I like shopping. It might include online shopping, I am based in a city where this is somehow a newly introduced trained, and that's why I feel like it is a big risky.
For most people, purchasing a something online without physically viewing the product can induce a lot of stress and fear. This is especially true if you are not accustomed to e-commerce and online shopping.
Here is UAE, there are a lot site getting introduced to purchase online. But the problem is those who are starting this business are not fully aware of how to showcase their product so that customers can buy them without hesitation.
In UAE souq.com is quite famous and can say that this is the very first very successful online shopping site in UAE.
I do not know how and why did it get such a big popularity. The problem is, some products which are available on this site are not available in any other store. That's why when people see them over the online store they cannot wait to buy it. and when the product becomes very popular then it comes in the market.
But souq.com doesn't know how to display the item. For example: they are selling a dress, you will see only ONE picture of that dress and i.e. the front side of the dress, which definitely is not enough for the customers to buy it. same goes for bed sheets. for electronic items: they are not displaying all the details which user want to know before buying.
I bought a few items electronic items from souq.com and few household. Then because of the bad experience, I, now stopped to buy anything from souq.com.
When I buy online, I want to see each and every details of the product.
Then Few month ago, I came across a website not based in UAE that was jollychic.com, they are showcasing their products quite nicely. I though OK, nice. the reviews seems to be good. products appears to be good. OK buy it.
I did. I bought some dresses. Items got delivered. They were good but not as mention or look on the website. I am not satisfied and because it was shipped from china I cannot return them. returning will be quite expensive.
If I calculate a lump-sum of how many things I bough online, my overall experience would be Not So Good.
Here I am giving a chart.  I am giving ranks from 0 to 10. from 5 to 10 are good and less than 5 are worst experience.
This list has only few items i have purchased.

Total Success is Determined by Your Thoughts, Beliefs and Actions

Many people say they want success, yet they are not willing to do what it takes to achieve their desired outcome. I am a believer in Total Success. Total Success requires more then a successful business and a great income. Total Success is about having a balanced life, giving back and enjoying what you do.

In order to achieve Total Success there are specific thoughts and beliefs you must have. There are also certain actions you must take.

Success in anything goes beyond the obvious. Although you need a certain amount of skill and knowledge, your successes will come from the way you think, feel and act, coupled with intense emotion and a steadfast belief in “self.”

To achieve Total Success you must set goals. Setting goals cannot be a hit and miss process. It has to be systematic, deliberate and the cornerstone of every other aspect of what you do in order to create a successful, abundant, happy, and balanced life. Goals are about gaining direction, clarity and vision.

Even though the concept of goal setting took a while for me to grasp, once I did, the difference in my ability to achieve the outcomes I desired was amazing. Initially I dabbled in the process. Over time, as with virtually every other component of my success, it became very systemized.

My success is directly proportionate to my willingness to set goals, write down my goals, review my goals and stay committed to my goals.

If you want what you say you do, you have to set goals. It’s not that difficult and the results will amaze you. Get a blank book. On each page write down your goals in a specific category and date it.

Not only should you write your goals down, you must review them morning and night. Write your primary goals on a 3 x 5 card to make the review time more targeted. Doing this will keep you on target with what you want.

When you focus on your goals by writing them down and reviewing them on a regular basis amazing events will begin to happen. You will be able to manifest what you want a lot quicker.

However, you must do more than write them down and read them. You have to be committed to the outcome. This means that if you want to get and stay healthy, you will have to make choices around what you eat and how often you exercise.

It is the same with your finances. If you want to increase your wealth you must make specific choices on how you spend and invest your money.

Think of every area of your life you want improvement in. Decide what you want and what you are willing to do to get it. Write your goals down, read them morning and night and take the appropriate actions to achieve your desired outcome.

With dedication and commitment you will be well on your way to Total Success.

Become a Lie Detector

How to Detect Lies
Become a Lie Detector

Introduction to Detecting Lies:
The following techniques to telling if someone is lying are often used by police, and security experts. This knowledge is also useful for managers, employers, and for anyone to use in everyday situations where telling the truth from a lie can help prevent you from being a victim of fraud/scams and other deceptions.

Warning: Sometimes Ignorance is bliss; after gaining this knowledge, you may be hurt when it is obvious that someone is lying to you.

Signs of Deception:
Body Language of Lies:
• Physical expression will be limited and stiff, with few arm and hand movements. Hand, arm and leg movement are toward their own body the liar takes up less space.

• A person who is lying to you will avoid making eye contact.

• Hands touching their face, throat & mouth. Touching or scratching the nose or behind their ear. Not likely to touch his chest/heart with an open hand.

Emotional Gestures & Contradiction
• Timing and duration of emotional gestures and emotions are off a normal pace. The display of emotion is delayed, stays longer it would naturally, then stops suddenly.

• Timing is off between emotions gestures/expressions and words. Example: Someone says "I love it!" when receiving a gift, and then smile after making that statement, rather then at the same time the statement is made.

• Gestures/expressions don’t match the verbal statement, such as frowning when saying “I love you.”

• Expressions are limited to mouth movements when someone is faking emotions (like happy, surprised, sad, awe, )instead of the whole face. For example; when someone smiles naturally their whole face is involved: jaw/cheek movement, eyes and forehead push down, etc.

Interactions and Reactions
• A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive.

• A liar is uncomfortable facing his questioner/accuser and may turn his head or body away.

• A liar might unconsciously place objects (book, coffee cup, etc.) between themselves and you.

Verbal Context and Content
• A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, “Did you eat the last cookie?” The liar answers, “No, I did not eat the last cookie.”

•A statement with a contraction is more likely to be truthful: “ I didn't do it” instead of “I did not do it”

• Liars sometimes avoid "lying" by not making direct statements. They imply answers instead of denying something directly.

• The guilty person may speak more than natural, adding unnecessary details to convince you... they are not comfortable with silence or pauses in the conversation.

• A liar may leave out pronouns and speak in a monotonous tone. When a truthful statement is made the pronoun is emphasized as much or more than the rest of the words in a statement.

• Words may be garbled and spoken softly, and syntax and grammar may be off. In other
words, his sentences will likely be muddled rather than emphasized.

Related Books:

Never be Lied to Again

Body Language
Other signs of a lie:
• If you believe someone is lying, then change subject of a conversation quickly, a liar follows along willingly and becomes more relaxed. The guilty wants the subject changed; an innocent person may be confused by the sudden change in topics and will want to back to the previous subject.

• Using humor or sarcasm to avoid a subject.

Final Notes:
Obviously, just because someone exhibits one or more of these signs does not make them a liar. The above behaviors should be compared to a persons base (normal) behavior whenever possible.

Most lie detecting experts agree that a combination of body language and other cues must be used to make an educated guess on whether someone is telling the truth or a lie.

forgiving and forgetting.

I would like to hear your opinion on forgiving and forgetting. When people hurt you: do you forgive and forget? Or do you just forgive but don’t forget?

People who tend to be seen as good – usually forgive and forget. But I don’t think that this is a question of being good or evil – I think the point is about being just. So maybe the tendency to forgive and forget those that have hurt us is not necessarily a good thing. Because if we don’t do anything to people that hurt us – they will probably continue on hurting others.

This is the way I see it and I would like to hear you about this subject and also your own experiences.

Muhabbat ki haqeeqat - II

muhabat aik afaqi jazba ha. is k beshumar roop hoty han. ik insan ki dosray insan se muhabat, dosto ki muhabat, behan bhai ki muhabat, ma baap ki muhabat, aulad ki muhabat, aur SAB SE BARH KAR MAKHLOOQ KI APNY KHALIQ SE MUHBBAT. ye sab muhabbaten han jo insan karta ha, karta rahy ga. Ghor karo to in me koi be-gharz nahi ha. insan kitna hi be-gharz ho, magar kisi dosray insan se muhabat karty huay mukamal tor par be-gharz nahi ho sakta.koi gharz na ho to tanhae door karny ki gharz to ha. Akyla to koi nahi reh sakta. insaan mashrati janwar ha. to taluq rakhny ki gharz to aik bari sachae ha. DOSTI KA BHI YAHI HAAL HA. koi HAM KHAYAL, jo acha b lagta ho. is se mil kar bat kar ky dil khush hota ha. Gharz to Hue na. aur ikhtilaf ho jaiey ,,,, sangeen nouyat ka ikhtilaf ho jiaiye to ADMI is dost ko chor dyta ha. koi aur dost talash kar lyta ha. Bhai dost se bari zarurat hota ha. Ak bohot apna, jo har kary waqt me sath rahy.... hamara dukh bantay... tasaali dy.
Bss MAA BAAP KI AULAD SE MUHABBAT SE SE MUKHTALIF HA. Magar nihayet be-gharz hony ka bawajood gharz se bilkul paak wo bhi nahi ha. BAAP ko aulad se aik masoom c gharz hoti ha k wo is ki nasal ko agay barhaiye ga, marnay k bad is k nam ko zinda rakhy . Haan maa ki muhabbat bilkul be-gharz ha, is ka bss chaly to aulaad ka har dukh khud ly ly aur usay dukh se mehfooz kar dy.

KHALIQ KI ALLAH KI MUHABBAT hi sab se khalis , sab se be-gharz aur baak muhabbat ha, kiun k isay kisi sy kuch nahi chahiyey. wo sab kuch banany wala ha har chez ka malik ha. koi usay kuch dy nai sakta, isay na hi zarurat ha. lakin humen us ki rehmat aur barkat ki zaruat ha.

Muhabbat admi ALLAH se kary ya is ki makhlooq se, wo ibadat hoti ha. shart ye ha k wo Paak mohabbat ho aur muhabbat karny wala har pal ye yaad rakhy k isay aur is k mehboob ko ALLAH ne banaya ha... Ehsaan kia. Aur yahi nahi, in k dilo me muhabbat b isi na daali, warna wo yek-ja nahi ho sakty thy. Ye to ALLAH ka ehsaan ha. Is KHAYAL K SATH MUHBBAT IBADAT HO GE. AUR IS K BAGHER HAWIS.

Success

"I call people 'successful' not because they have money or their business is doing well but because, as human beings, they have a fully developed sense of being alive and are engaged in a lifetime task of collaboration with other human beings - their mothers and fathers, their family, their friends, their loved ones, the friends who are dying, the friends who are being born.

Success? Don't you know it is all about being able to extend love to people? Really. Not in a big, capital-letter sense but in the everyday.Little by little, task by task, gesture by gesture, word by word."

Ralph Fiennes, b.1962 Oscar-nominated British Actor

5o imp interview questions ask for any kind of job

1. Tell me about yourself:
The most often asked question in interviews. You need to have a short statement prepared in your mind. Be careful that it does not sound rehearsed. Limit it to work-related items unless instructed otherwise. Talk about things you have done and jobs you have held that relate to the position you are interviewing for. Start with the item farthest back and work up to the present.

2. Why did you leave your last job?
Stay positive regardless of the circumstances. Never refer to a major problem with management and never speak ill of supervisors, co-workers or the organization. If you do, you will be the one looking bad. Keep smiling and talk about leaving for a positive reason such as an opportunity, a chance to do something special or other forward-looking
reasons.

3. What experience do you have in this field?
Speak about specifics that relate to the position you are applying for. If you do not have specific experience, get as close as you can.

4. Do you consider yourself successful?
You should always answer yes and briefly explain why. A good explanation is that you have set goals, and you have met some and are on track to achieve the others.

5. What do co-workers say about you?
Be prepared with a quote or two from co-workers. Either a specific statement or a paraphrase will work. Jill Clark, a co-worker at Smith Company, always said I was the hardest workers she had ever known. It is as powerful as Jill having said it at the interview herself.

6. What do you know about this organization?
This question is one reason to do some research on the organization before the interview. Find out where they have been and where they are going. What are the current issues and who are the major players?

7. What have you done to improve your knowledge in the last year?
Try to include improvement activities that relate to the job. A wide variety of activities can be mentioned as positive self-improvement. Have some good ones handy to mention.

8. Are you applying for other jobs?
Be honest but do not spend a lot of time in this area. Keep the focus on this job and what you can do for this organization. Anything else is a distraction.

9. Why do you want to work for this organization?
This may take some thought and certainly, should be based on the research you have done on the organization. Sincerity is extremely important here and will easily be sensed. Relate it to your long-term career goals.

10. Do you know anyone who works for us?
Be aware of the policy on relatives working for the organization. This can affect your answer even though they asked about friends not relatives. Be careful to mention a friend only if they are well thought of.

11. What kind of salary do you need?
A loaded question. A nasty little game that you will probably lose if you answer first. So, do not answer it. Instead, say something like, That’s a tough question. Can you tell me the range for this position? In most cases, the interviewer, taken off guard, will tell you. If not, say that it can depend on the details of the job. Then give a wide range.

12. Are you a team player?
You are, of course, a team player. Be sure to have examples ready. Specifics that show you often perform for the good of the team rather than for yourself are good evidence of your team attitude. Do not brag, just say it in a matter-of-fact tone. This is a key point.

13. How long would you expect to work for us if hired?
Specifics here are not good. Something like this should work: I’d like it to be a long time. Or As long as we both feel I’m doing a good job.

14. Have you ever had to fire anyone? How did you feel about that?
This is serious. Do not make light of it or in any way seem like you like to fire people. At the same time, you will do it when it is the right thing to do. When it comes to the organization versus the individual who has created a harmful situation, you will protect the organization. Remember firing is not the same as layoff or reduction in force.

15. What is your philosophy towards work?
The interviewer is not looking for a long or flowery dissertation here. Do you have strong feelings that the job gets done? Yes. That’s the type of answer that works best here. Short and positive, showing a benefit to the organization.

16. If you had enough money to retire right now, would you?
Answer yes if you would. But since you need to work, this is the type of work you prefer. Do not say yes if you do not mean it.

17. Have you ever been asked to leave a position?
If you have not, say no. If you have, be honest, brief and avoid saying negative things about the people or organization involved.

18. Explain how you would be an asset to this organization
You should be anxious for this question. It gives you a chance to highlight your best points as they relate to the position being discussed. Give a little advance thought to this relationship.

19. Why should we hire you?
Point out how your assets meet what the organization needs. Do not mention any other candidates to make a comparison.

20. Tell me about a suggestion you have made
Have a good one ready. Be sure and use a suggestion that was accepted and was then considered successful. One related to the type of work applied for is a real plus.

21. What irritates you about co-workers?
This is a trap question. Think real hard but fail to come up with anything that irritates you. A short statement that you seem to get along with folks is great.

22. What is your greatest strength?
Numerous answers are good, just stay positive. A few good examples: Your ability to prioritize, Your problem-solving skills, Your ability to work under pressure, Your ability to focus on projects, Your professional expertise, Your leadership skills, Your positive attitude

23. Tell me about your dream job.
Stay away from a specific job. You cannot win. If you say the job you are contending for is it, you strain credibility. If you say another job is it, you plant the suspicion that you will be dissatisfied with this position if hired. The best is to stay genetic and say something like: A job where I love the work, like the people, can contribute and can’t wait to get to work.

24. Why do you think you would do well at this job?
Give several reasons and include skills, experience and interest.

25. What are you looking for in a job?
See answer # 23

26. What kind of person would you refuse to work with?

Do not be trivial. It would take disloyalty to the organization, violence or lawbreaking to get you to object. Minor objections will label you as a whiner.

27. What is more important to you: the money or the work?
Money is always important, but the work is the most important. There is no better answer.

28. What would your previous supervisor say your strongest point is?
There are numerous good possibilities: Loyalty, Energy, Positive attitude, Leadership, Team player, Expertise,
Initiative, Patience, Hard work, Creativity, Problem solver

29. Tell me about a problem you had with a supervisor
Biggest trap of all. This is a test to see if you will speak ill of your boss. If you fall for it and tell about a problem with a former boss, you may well below the interview right there. Stay positive and develop a poor memory about any trouble with a supervisor.

30. What has disappointed you about a job?
Don’t get trivial or negative. Safe areas are few but can include: Not enough of a challenge. You were laid off in a reduction Company did not win a contract, which would have given you more responsibility.

31. Tell me about your ability to work under pressure.
You may say that you thrive under certain types of pressure. Give an example that relates to the type of position applied for.

32. Do your skills match this job or another job more closely?
Probably this one. Do not give fuel to the suspicion that you may want another job more than this one.

33. What motivates you to do your best on the job?
This is a personal trait that only you can say, but good examples are: Challenge, Achievement, Recognition

34. Are you willing to work overtime? Nights? Weekends?
This is up to you. Be totally honest.

35. How would you know you were successful on this job?
Several ways are good measures:
ou set high standards for yourself and meet them. Your outcomes are a success.Your boss tell you that you are successful

36. Would you be willing to relocate if required?
You should be clear on this with your family prior to the interview if you think there is a chance it may come up. Do not say yes just to get the job if the real answer is no. This can create a lot of problems later on in your career. Be honest at this point and save yourself future grief.

37. Are you willing to put the interests of the organization ahead ofyour own?
This is a straight loyalty and dedication question. Do not worry about the deep ethical and philosophical implications. Just say yes.

38. Describe your management style.
Try to avoid labels. Some of the more common labels, like progressive, salesman or consensus, can have several meanings or descriptions depending on which management expert you listen to. The situational style is safe, because it says you will manage according to the situation, instead of one size fits all.

39. What have you learned from mistakes on the job?
Here you have to come up with something or you strain credibility. Make it small, well intentioned mistake with a positive lesson learned. An example would be working too far ahead of colleagues on a project and thus throwing coordination off.

40. Do you have any blind spots?
Trick question. If you know about blind spots, they are no longer blind spots. Do not reveal any personal areas of concern here. Let them do their own discovery on your bad points. Do not hand it to them.

41. If you were hiring a person for this job, what would you look for?
Be careful to mention traits that are needed and that you have.

42. Do you think you are overqualified for this position?
Regardless of your qualifications, state that you are very well
qualified for the position.

43. How do you propose to compensate for your lack of experience?
First, if you have experience that the interviewer does not know about,
bring that up: Then, point out (if true) that you are a hard working
quick learner.

44. What qualities do you look for in a boss?
Be generic and positive. Safe qualities are knowledgeable, a sense of humor, fair, loyal to subordinates and holder of high standards. All bosses think they have these traits.

45. Tell me about a time when you helped resolve a dispute betweenothers.
Pick a specific incident. Concentrate on your problem solving technique and not the dispute you settled.

46. What position do you prefer on a team working on a project?
Be honest. If you are comfortable in different roles, point that out.

47. Describe your work ethic.
Emphasize benefits to the organization. Things like, determination to get the job done and work hard but enjoy your work are good.

48. What has been your biggest professional disappointment?
Be sure that you refer to something that was beyond your control. Show acceptance and no negative feelings.

49. Tell me about the most fun you have had on the job.
Talk about having fun by accomplishing something for the organization.

50. Do you have any questions for me?
Always have some questions prepared. Questions prepared where you will be an asset to the organization are good. How soon will I be able to be productive? and What type of projects will I be able to assist on? Are examples.

Do I Even Need a Prototype??? & Prototyping Overview

Prototypes can add unnecessary overhead if they are not needed or are not workable for a particular project situation. Analyze the circumstances of the project to determine if a prototype will add value. When making the decision, consider the benefits of prototyping.

THE BENEFITS OF PROTOTYPING

Types of Benefits

Prototyping primarily assists with communication between the end-user and the development staff. The enhanced communication results in greater accuracy and fewer errors in later parts of the project, when they become more expensive to fix. The early involvement also empowers the end-user and facilitates system acceptance and understanding.

Communicate Requirements to Customer

Prototyping is an effective means of communicating the analyst's understanding of system requirements to the customer. The customer achieves a better understanding of the proposed system than could be obtained from written documentation alone. Therefore, problems that may have gone undetected until a later stage are identified earlier.

Prototyping should be used for all interactive systems. Consider that a serious review by end-users will almost always result in a change.

Communicate Requirements to Programmer

Prototyping is an effective means of communicating the system requirements and design to programmers. It is easier for the programmers to build a system from a working model than from a design document.

Customers See the Design at an Earlier Stage

Some design activities, such as Human Interface Design, occur at an earlier stage in the life cycle when a prototype is developed. Customers are able to try out the design and provide their input before much time and money are expended.

If Horizontal Prototyping is used during analysis, a first cut of the system externals is defined at that time. If a Vertical Prototype is developed, a first cut of the database must be designed during analysis.

Prototyping can greatly reduce the scope and size of design activities. Design activities still occur but they are moved to other stages of the system life cycle. Depending on the extent of the prototype, design efforts can be reduced to include only such tasks as test plan preparation, user aids design, conversion design, and database optimization.

Greater Customer Involvement

Customers become more involved in the system development process when a prototype is used. This helps ensure that customer requirements are met.

Reduce Written Documentation

Prototyping makes a system more intuitive and reduces the amount of written documentation required.

Situation Where Prototypes are Most Valuable

Some situations where prototyping is particularly valuable include:

· scope of the project permits customer involvement to improve the system,

· customers are unsure of their exact requirements or are having difficulty expressing requirements,

· the new system is altering a basic business operation,

· customers are not fully aware of all the impacts of the new system,

· the advantages and disadvantages of alternative solutions need to be explored.

Situations For Limited Prototyping

In general, prototyping is more valuable for on-line systems than for batch processing. However, most batch systems produce reports which can be prototyped using a report generator. Prototyping is of limited value in some systems that are logic intensive. In these cases, horizontal prototypes can still be used to evaluate the human interface.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Use Prototyping to:

· develop a working model of key functional components of a system, which may or may not be developed into the final system,

· enhance communication of requirements between the analyst, customer, and development team members,

· demonstrate features of the proposed system to such a level that the customer can relate it to his or her requirements,

· allow customers and analysts to explore alternative architectures and specific customer task scenarios,

· uncover design flaws early in the project life cycle,

· train customers who will eventually use the system,

· validate customer requirements (are we building the right product?),

· verify customer requirements (are we building the product right?).

Method

To build a prototype, complete the following steps:

Evaluate the Need for Prototyping

Define the Type of Prototype

Develop the Prototype

Refine the Prototype

Tips and Hints

Fourth Generation tools make it possible to quickly and easily prototype a model of system externals. However, if the prototype cannot be built and changed easily, many of the advantages of prototyping are lost. Some tools require considerable effort to set up the database or make database changes, particularly in the hands of inexperienced programmers.

Busy Schedules & Interviewing

Busy Schedules & Interviewing

Someone recently asked me to write a BLOG on how those employed by Big Five and high-travel consulting roles can find time to interview with their high travel requirements. This is a great question and a topic that I deal with quite often. I believe some of my ideas below may help.

First, I recommend that people are very serious when they decide it is time to begin interviewing. Meaning, that the job seeker has already spoke with their current employer or supervisor about any important issues that is causing the person to consider making a move. When it is 100% clear that a career change is mandatory, people seem to find a way to prioritize their schedule and find time to interview.

Secondly, I recommend that people do a phone interview first to ensure that you really are excited about the company, the role, the responsibilities, and the person you'll be working with. You are interviewing the client as well! Phone interviews are easier to squeeze in before 8 AM; during lunch; and in the early evening if both parties realize the importance.

Third, I recommend that you fully research the company on your own using the internet, industry contacts, trade journals, etc. Do all of your homework before investing your own time and the time/money of a company that is also in your industry. By not wasting their time, you won't burn future bridges in a very small world!

Consultants usually travel Monday thru Thursday and can often interview on Fridays in their home town. Some companies are open to interviewing on weekends as well.

When all else fails, the next three best options for high-travel Big 5 consultants is to do a Video Conference Interview with the client (your local Kinko's); schedule it 1-2 weeks out and take a vacation around a 3-day weekend; and finally make creative suggestions like starting you as a consultant in a "Right to Hire". I've even had hiring managers fly to the "job seekers' location and I've heard of executive recruiters video taping an interview and mailing it to the manager.

I hope these ideas help you to consider some other options as we try to fit interviews into an already hectic professional work schedule! Good Luck.

21 rules of negotiation

The Critical Rules

Rule 1: No free gifts! Seek a trade-off (“OK, if . . .”) for each concession you make.

Rule 2: Start high.

Rule 3: Follow a dramatic initial concession with sharply diminishing concessions.

Rule 4: Krunch early and often.

Rule 5: Never settle issues individually. Settle all issues as a package—only as a package—at the end.

Rule 6: Conclude with a nibble.

Rule 7: Keep looking for creative (high value–low cost) concessions to trade.

7. The Important but Obvious Rules

Rule 8: Do your homework.

Rule 9: Keep the climate positive.

Rule 10: Never assume that an issue is non-negotiable just because the other side says it is. In reality, almost everything is negotiable.

Rule 11: Never accept the other side’s first offer.

8. The Nice to Do Rules

Rule 12: Start slowly.

Rule 13: Set a complete agenda.

Rule 14: Discuss the small things first.

Rule 15: Be patient.

Rule 16: Use/beware the power of legitimacy.

Rule 17: Keep your authority limited. Try to negotiate against people with higher authority.

Rule 18: Consider using good guy–bad guy.

Rule 19: Try to have the other side make the first offer.

Rule 20: Keep your team small and under control.

Rule 21: Try to have the other side travel to you.
