NON-MUSLIMS REFERRED AS ‘KAFIRS’

Why do Muslims abuse non-Muslims by calling them ‘Kafirs’?

NON-MUSLIMS REFERRED AS ‘KAFIRS’

'Kafir’ means one who rejects.

‘Kafir’ is derived from the word ‘kufr’, which means to conceal or to reject. In Islamic terminology, ‘Kafir’ means one who conceals or rejects the truth of Islam and a person who rejects Islam is in English called a ‘non-Muslim’.

If non-Muslims are hurt - they should accept Islam.

If any non-Muslim considers the word ‘Kafir’ i.e. ‘non-Muslim’ as an abuse, he may choose to accept Islam and then we will stop referring to him as or call him a kafir i.e. a non-Muslim.

  1. So muslims can kill kafirs or infidels as per what islam says, so why cant the infedels do the same to muslims as they dont recognize islam as their religion or they respect their own religion than any other. I believe that Muslims god is no the only one in this universe, there is lord krishna, jesus christ who were god and saint respectively and were very pios people. We are not saying that you stop beleive in god that is just imaginary, but you cant stop other people in beliving in god like lord krishna, who lived on earth at one point. So the term kafir is absolutely absurd and people who use these kind of terms are psycopaths.

  2. What does it mean? 'People of the book' or 'Ahl-ul-Kitab'?

  3. 'People of the book' or 'Ahl-ul-Kitab' means those who are Christian.

In Islam, the People of the Book (Arabic: أهل الكتاب‎ ′Ahl al-Kitāb)[1] are non-Muslim peoples who, according to the Qur'an, received scriptures which were revealed to them by God before the time of Muhammad, most notably Christians and Jews.[2] The generally accepted interpretation is that the pre-Islamic revealed texts are the Tawrat, Zabur and the Injil. They are roughly equivalent to the Jewish Torah, the Book of Psalms, and the Four Christian Gospels, respectively.

In Islam, the Muslim scripture, the Qur'an, is taken to represent the completion of these scriptures, and to synthesize them as God's true, final, and eternal message to humanity. Because the People of the Book recognize the God of Abraham as the one and only god, as do Muslims, and they practice revealed faiths based on divine ordinances, tolerance and autonomy is accorded to them in societies governed by sharia (Islamic divine law).

In Judaism the term "People of the Book" (Hebrew: עם הספר, Am HaSefer) subsequently became self-applied to refer specifically to the Jewish people and the Torah; also the Jewish people and the wider canon of written Jewish law (including the Mishnah and the Talmud). In the Jewish tradition's use of the term there is generally no connotation as to the nature of Judaism's relationship with other faiths.[3]
